Changing Leaves and Changing Last Names - Karen And Keiran

On a beautiful sunny autumnal day, Karen and Keiran tied the knot in our dreamy log barn ceremony room. We talk to Karen about planning their rustic October wedding at our exclusive countryside gem.

When we began searching for wedding venues we knew we wanted a rustic feel for our wedding. We logged into online wedding planner hitched and came across The Oaks. No matter how many times I looked into other places, the oaks always had my heart.

We sent an enquiry to The Oaks before we knew about any wedding fayres. The response was quick and the lovely ladies at The Oaks arranged for us to go and see the venue. They made it really easy for us with having a child, we could go in the evening and no matter what questions we had or what we wanted to see nothing was too much trouble.  When we pulled up to their rustic wedding barn and we just knew it was going to be special. The drive down the lane was already magical and we were excited before even seeing inside. The barn was beautiful, it was everything we wanted and more. Of course seeing the alpacas was a selling point!! Very unique and so cute!

The theme behind our wedding was a rustic magical/warming feel. Our colour palette was sage green, rose gold and a touch of baby pink. We just wanted it to feel magical with extra fairy lights and candles, but also that bit of glamour with our bridesmaids dresses being sparkley! The Oaks really suited this theme, not only did they embrace our colours and styling but they worked with us to make it exactly how we wanted.

The Oaks décor packages were well suited for our theme. We had the lantern and candle package which added a romantic vibe. The lanterns were spread all around the ceremony room and then moved to the reception. We didn’t have to worry about anything, I just knew the ladies would do a perfect job and that they did! We also had the Seasonal Foliage entrance arch. Rianna did this all herself and she put her heart and soul into it. We went to visit the venue the day before the wedding and she was already working away on the entrance. It was unique for us and we had lots of comments on how amazing it looked during the wedding. We had the Tipple Trough package which was originally set up inside but the weather was better than expected on the day meaning the ladies moved it outside. They made it look amazing and again it was no problem for the staff to do this! Everyone loved the outside reception drinks.

The most memorable part of our wedding day was … all of it! But the moments we got together as husband and wife in the most gorgeous surroundings of The Oaks having photos taken was amazing. It’s truly is a magical venue and walking through the woods together was just perfect.

To start the party and kick off the evening part of our wedding celebrations we hired DJ Dave Dee who was recommended by The Oaks and my gosh did he deliver! Dave Dee was incredible and truly knew The Oaks! It was the best entertainment we could have hoped for.
